Swedish offers a competitive benefit package designed to provide employees a wide range of health, financial and career-oriented benefits.
To be eligible for the benefit plan, you must be an FTE (full-time equivalent) of .5 or above. Eligible dependents, including a domestic partner, may also be covered under our comprehensive health-care benefits, which include medical, dental and vision coverage. Dependents may also be eligible for life insurance coverage.
Swedish offers a comprehensive medical plan for eligible employees using the First Choice network of providers. There are thousands of physicians and other providers in the network throughout Western Washington available to meet the health care needs of our employees and their dependents. Our plan covers physician's services, hospitalization, laboratory charges, prescriptions, and other medical needs.
We provide an outstanding dental plan through Washington Dental Service (WDS). The plan covers 100% of preventative care charges and a significant portion of the expenses for other dental work, after the annual deductible has been satisfied. Orthodontia coverage is also included, with a maximum lifetime benefit of $1,500.
The Swedish retirement plan is a 401(k) plan, allowing you to reduce your taxable income and accumulate savings for your retirement. Fidelity administers our 401(k) plan, and offers a core group of investment choices, including the Fidelity Freedom funds, as well as a "brokerage window" option available to those looking for greater diversity in investment choices.
We recognize that taking time off enables you to maintain a proper work/life balance. Eligible employees receive time-off for vacation and sick leave.

Your portion of the monthly health-care premium is paid with pre-tax payroll deductions. This decreases your taxable income and therefore decreases taxes paid. Additional ways to save on taxes can be explored through the Flexible Spending Accounts.
Flexible Spending Accounts
We know that your health-care expenses can significantly contribute to the costs associated with working. Our Flexible Spending Accounts take advantage of federal legislation that allows you to pay your portion of qualified expenses with tax-free earnings.
Basic life insurance
Our life insurance plan provides basic term life coverage of 1x your annual salary. Additional coverage can be purchased through the Supplemental and Dependent Life Plans.
Long-term disability insurance
Our long-term disability plan will help replace lost income if an injury or illness prevents you from working for an extended period of time. The supplemental plan allows you to purchase additional coverage with the option to pay the premium with either pre-tax or post-tax earnings.
A full service credit union is available to help meet our employees' financial needs. It offers savings, checking and holiday accounts, certificates of deposits, loans, VISA credit and debit cards. Automatic payroll deductions can be made directly to your credit union checking or savings account.
If you are working toward a degree that may be used for career advancement within Swedish, you may be eligible for tuition reimbursement for part or all of your studies.
Employee Assistance Program
Our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) — offered through Wellspring EAP, Inc. — helps employees and their families identify and resolve personal challenges. The program can assist with many types of concerns, including parenting, family conflict, relationship issues, elder care challenges, legal/financial questions, substance abuse, and stress.
